The president of the Mercosur parliament has said Brazil should have more representatives to reflect its large population, Brazilian Property investors may be interested to learn.
Doctor Roshina - who is the deputy leader of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's ruling Workers party as well as head of the South American trading bloc - said the country should have four times as many delegates as Paraguy and Uruguay.
"With equal representation for all full Mercosur members, it is impossible for Brazil and Argentina to represent their peoples, which are larger," he asserted.
Dr Roshina argued that Brazil should have 75 representatives, Argentina should get 33 and Paraguay and Uruguay should have 18 each.
Earlier this week, President Lula da Silva's foreign policy advisor Marco Aurelio Garcia said that a lack of mechanisms to "correct asymmetries" is one of the biggest hurdles for Mercosur when it comes to Latin American integration.
Brazzil Magazine reported that Mr Aurelio Garcia said finance infrastructure projects are also an obstacle for the parliament to overcome.
