Brazil Property News: Brazil to boast continent's most powerful network

20th June 2008 04:27

A Brazilian university is set to install what will be Latin America's most powerful computer network, it has been reported.

Sao Paulo State University will set up a computer cluster known as GridUNESP to enable it to link up with seven other sites in the South-eastern state, according to the Brazzil Magazine.

People looking at property for sale in Brazil could be interested to hear the news that the nation is expanding its technological capabilities further.

Sergio Ferraz Novaes, professor of the theoretical physics institute at UNESP and the network's coordinator, told the website: "A network that interconnects the principal processing and data storage centres in the University will allow an equitable distribution of these resources, allowing virtually everybody to access a computational infrastructure."

It was revealed earlier in the year by the Research and Markets report that Brazil was leading a Latin American broadband revolution.

Meanwhile, Brazilian telecoms company, Embratel announced it is close to completing an implementation of a broad WiMAX network in 12 of the nation's cities.

It is believed that better internet and telecoms services will drive growth in the country.
