Brazil Property News: Brazil to open tourism institute in China

1st October 2007 12:34

The Brazil-China Chamber of Economic Development has announced plans for the Brazilian Tourism Institute to open a new office in China.

The office will be located either in Beijing or Shanghai in an effort to engage directly with the Chinese tourist market.

Over 20,000 Chinese tourists travelled to Brazil in 2006 – a figure the Brazilian government is keen to expand.

Alexandre De Mata, the Brazil-China Chamber of Economic Development's tourism director, commented on the decision.

"The aggressive development of [China] also has repercussions on the tourism operation that are well structured. It is an economy that cannot be ignored," he said.

He also highlighted that China has over 300 million consumers and 25 million millionaires, who are potentially in search of markets to invest in.

Brazil has recently been tipped by a national British newspaper as one of the top six places in the world for property investment.

Relations between the two emerging markets have been encouraged by their Earth Satellite collaboration, which saw them launch their third satellite into orbit last month.

Previous craft were launched in 1999 and 2003, pictures from which have been published online and viewed by over 15,000 users, according to statistics provided by Brazilian officials.
