Brazil Property News: Brazil tops green consumer survey

9th May 2008 05:30

Brazil residents are among the greenest-living people on the planet, according to a new survey.

The National Geographic Society and GlobeScan have unveiled their "Greendex" analysis of global consumer behaviour in relation to the environment.

Brazilians are tied with Indians as the most green-living residents on the planet, the data concludes, after checks were made on how "wasteful" different nationalities are.

National Geographic reports that "Brazilians and Indians each scored 60 on the sustainable-consumption scale", as part of tests which compared attitudes towards housing, transportation and other areas.

Consumers in the US scored as the most wasteful while people in Canada also fared badly.

Brazilians could be encouraged by the news that they are top of the green tree despite their country undergoing an ongoing process of development.

People considering buying property in Brazil could also have their faith strengthened by the resourcefulness the results apparently demonstrate in Brazilians.

Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva recently said his country had achieved "international trust" by proving it took its finances seriously.

The country has recently won investment grade condition, set to attract a wealth of investment from abroad.
