Brazil Property News: Brazil wins tourism awards

7th November 2008 07:00

Brazil dominates the World Travel Awards South America Ceremony.

Rio de Janeiro's InterContinental Hotel played host to the best performers in the region's travel industry and the home city scooped the coveted Leading Destination crown.

The awards took place in partnership with the Fair of Americas ABAV 2008 Exhibition.

Graham Cooke, founder and president of the awards, said the exhibition and congress represent the most "significant" business occasion in the region and the awards are delighted to work with the organisers.

"[The awards aim] to encourage, educate and inspire travel companies and destinations to transform their performance to a completely new level of supreme excellence," Mr Cooke added.

People considering Brazilian property for sale could be interested to hear that Ipanema Beach won an award and the Copacabana Palace won the best hotel accolade.

Meanwhile, it was reported this week by Brazzil Magazine that a child welfare congress could attract thousands of people to Rio when it is held in the city from November 25th.
