Brazil Property News: Brazilian aircraft manufacturer scoops another deal

14th November 2007 09:29

A Brazilian airline has clinched its second major deal this month, it has been announced.

Embraer, which is the world's fourth largest commercial aircraft manufacturer, has struck a deal with Invision Projects of Indiana to deliver 20 executive class Phenom jets.

As part of the contract, which is said to be worth $69.3 million (£35 million), Embraer will deliver 18 Phenom 100 light jets and two Phenom 300 light jets.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2010, providing a further economic boost to the Brazilian aviation industry.

Earlier this week leading low-cost airline Gol, which began operating in January 2001, celebrated having flown 70 million passengers just shy of its seventh birthday, highlighting the growing popularity in reasonably priced flights in and out of Brazil.

Tarcisio Gargioni, vice-president of marketing and services at Gol, said: "Transporting 70 million people in less than seven years is a significant accomplishment for a young airline.

"Our business model allows us to offer tickets at competitive fares, increasing the accessibility of air transportation and setting new performance records in the Brazilian aviation industry."

Brazil's improving aviation links may have a positive effect on its tourist industry encouraging more customers to fly to the country.
