Brazil Property News: Brazilian airfare could become cheaper

4th June 2008 04:02

In a move that could prove fruitful for the Brazilian property and tourism sectors, the National Aviation Agency has announced it will authorise airfare reductions of up to 80 per cent, it has been reported.

The agency, which controls the nation's commercial flights policy, decided on Sunday that flights leaving the country for any of the region's other 12 countries could be earmarked for the reductions.

It added the move was part of its strategy to make international air travel in Brazil more competitive – a move that looks set to boost the country's tourism industry and increase the number of visitors looking for Brazilian property to stay in.

The agency intends to extend the policy to other continents in the near future.

In March 2007, it authorised airlines to reduce prices by as much as half but did not make the changes in law to its ticket pricing policy.

Meanwhile, earlier in the year the Latin American nation was named as one of the world's top medical tourist destinations by New Wire Investor publication.
