Brazil Property News: Brazilian airline places $2.8bn order

28th December 2007 12:55

Brazilian airline Gol has placed a $2.8 billion (£1.4 billion) order with aircraft manufacturer Boeing, it has been announced.

The low-cost airline has commissioned Boeing to supply it with 40 of its 737 planes, as part of a move to standardize its fleet.

John Wojick, Boeing's vice president of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean, elaborated on the deal.

He said: "Gol has garnered international attention by consistently posting profits since beginning operations, and the 737 has been a large part of that success.

"The Next-Generation 737 enables Gol to continue providing passengers reliable, on-time performance while benefiting from the airplane's reliability and fast airport turnaround times."

Gol's purchase will bring its total orders for the single-aisle plane up to 161, which are due to be delivered by 2014.

Boeing's 737 is the world's best-selling airline and Boeing itself is the world's second-biggest manufacturer of commercial aircraft.

Improving aviation services in Brazil is good news for property investors, making access to and from the nation easier.
