Brazil Property News: Brazilian airlines to give bigger discounts

27th February 2008 04:28

Brazilian airlines are set to offer even bigger discounts in a bid to become more competitive.

The Latin American nation's civil aviation regulator announced the decision to allow the country's airlines to slash prices from March 1st this week.

Airlines will be allowed to cut flight prices to other South American nations by as much as 50 per cent from the maximum fare set by the government, reports Bloomberg.

Currently, the discount limit is set at 30 per cent.

Brazil's biggest airline TAM along with its second-largest airline Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA doubled the number of international passengers they carried last year.

The slashing of fares is designed to help these airlines improve on 2007's figures and encourage more people to travel to the Latin American nation.

Property investors in Brazil may be pleased to hear this as it will not only make it cheaper for them to access their properties, but also for those considering renting accommodation in the nation.
