Brazil Property News: Brazilian flight industry gets boost from F1

11th October 2007 01:27

The Brazilian flight industry is set to receive a boost as Formula One (F1) enthusiasts flock to the country this weekend.

As the final battle ground in this year's championship, the Brazilian Grand Prix has attracted a large amount of media attention for Latin America's largest economy.

F1 racer Kimi Raikkonen said: "Now we have new hope to win the title and it's good to know that we can go to Sao Paulo and try our luck."

Increased demand for flights to the South American country has been reflected this month by Brazilian airline VRG Linhas Areas S.A's (VRG) decision to open a new direct route between London, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The airline said it launched the new route due to the increased demand for "tourism and business travel" between the two countries.

AirFrance has also acknowledged the country's growing flight industry with its recent alliance with low-cost Brazilian airline, Gol.

Under the new arrangements AirFrance will be able to sell flight tickets to any of Gol's 58 Latin American destinations for the airline.
