Brazil Property News: Brazilian football 'celebrated by new museum'

29th October 2008 12:02

Brazil has long been famous for its football success and now the nation is celebrating the sport with a new museum.

The attraction, Museu do Futebol, is located at the Pacaembu Stadium in Sao Paulo and is a national tribute to the game, reports Reuters.

People with property in Brazil may be interested to know that the museum could boost tourism in the region.

Speaking to the news provider, Hugo Sukman of the Roberto Marinho Foundation, which helped fund the construction of the museum, said: "The Louvre has the Mona Lisa. We have our own piece of art – Pele."

Among the exhibits in the museum are 140 items from Pele's personal collection including the ball he scored his 1,000th goal with.

The attraction also follows the history of the sport, from its origins as an elite sport to one which appeals to the masses.

It boasts interactive displays, including videos and a goal where visitors can have an attempt at taking a penalty shot.

Meanwhile, football legend Pele has invited a number of well-known footballers onboard his self-titled cruise which sets sail around Brazil next summer.
