Brazil Property News: Brazilian president promises better 'security, health and education'

The Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced this week that in 2008 he will deliver better security, health and education services.
Lula promised that his government will invest $3.4 billion (£1.7 billion) over the next three years into a major anti-crime programme, reports ChinaView.com.
A further $6.8 billion (£3.3 billion) will be injected into primary and secondary education in a bid to improve literacy.
The funds will be put towards awarding pay rises to teachers.
Under Lula's government Brazil has experienced significant economic growth, which was reflected when in 2003 – the year of his election – global property firm Knight Frank named Brazil as one of the Bric (Brazil, Russia, India and China) economies.
Knight Frank predicted that together by 2050 these emerging markets would eclipse the wealth of some of the world's wealthiest nations.
One area that Brazil has experienced significant economic growth in is its tourism market.
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council Brazil has a "very large, intensive and fast growing" tourism economy.
Its tourism industry employed 5.8 million people in 2007 and by 2017 the council estimates that this figure will have grown to 7.7 million.
