Brazil Property News: Brazilian property 'massively untapped'

The Brazilian property market is still "massively untapped" say property experts.
According to global residential and commercial property consultancy, Knight Frank, the Brazilian property market is likely to make "huge growth in the future" and is already starting to attract interest from the US and Europe.
Liam Bailey, head of residential research for Knight Frank, said: "From Europe, Spanish developers and investors [in Brazil] have been very noticeable and UK buyers have begun to make a small impression.
"There will also be an improvement in access from the new airport [in Natal] - this is by far the closest part of Brazil to Europe and makes the flight far more bearable than travelling south."
San Gonzalvo airport is due to open in 2010 and will be the fourth largest airport in the world, significantly increasing the number of direct flights to and from Natal in the north-eastern region of the country.
Mr Bailey added that Brazil was a "more affluent country per capita in the early 20th century" in comparison with Europe and is likely to see "considerable wealth creation" over the next ten years.
Figures published by the World Travel and Tourism Council reveal that travel and tourism demand in Brazil is growing at a rate of 7.2 per cent and in 2007 the industry accounted for more than $79.3 billion (£39.01 billion) in revenue.
