Brazil Property News: Brazilian tourism 'doing fine'

5th December 2008 03:25

Brazilian real estate investors could be interested to learn that the Latin American nation's hotel industry has been relatively unaffected by the financial downturn, it has been reported.

The Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH) claims the sector has not witnessed any cancellations as a result of the economic crisis, according to the Brazil Magazine.

Álvaro Bezerra de Mello, president of the ABIH, told the publication that he forecasts the nation's tourism will continue to do well all the way through to the carnival.

He added that the 2014 World Cup, which is taking place in Brazil, is going to trigger an influx of tourists into the nation.

"Brazil is going to take off. It happened in Barcelona, it happened in Sydney," Mr Bezerra explained.

Meanwhile, the Xinhua news agency reported this week that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has committed to continue investing in the nation's infrastructure despite the ongoing financial crisis.
