Brazil Property News: Brazilians to learn from Arab's "green city"

4th April 2008 02:00

A Brazilian state wants to learn from the United Arab Emirate's Masdar City – the world's first 'green city'.

The south-eastern state of Minas Gerais sent its vice-governor to head a business mission to the Arab world last week, ANBA reports.

In a move that could boost property in Brazil's south-east region, Minas Gerais' efforts to go green may attract carbon hyphen conscious property investors.

The city, under construction in the UAE, should be the first city in the world with zero carbon emissions and use of renewable energy sources alone.

Vice-governor Antonio Anastásia visited the city project yesterday and told ANBA that he wants university students to participate in an exchange project to learn more from the project.

José Carlos Carvalho, state secretary for environment and sustainable development, said it was important that students become aware of the urban planning and construction of sustainable cities for the future.

"It is a bold project featuring zero carbon emission. It is a revolutionary city," he added.

The Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA) is an information channel of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce which was created to fill the communications gap between Brazil and the 22 Arab countries that are represented by the chamber.
