Brazil's Gross Domestic Product grew by a total of 5.3 per cent in the first three quarters of 2007, compared with the same period last year.

The industrial sector increased by 5.1 per cent, marking it out as the leader in the overall increase, followed by a growth of 4.7 per cent for the services industry and an increase of 4.3 per cent in agriculture.

From the second to the third quarter agriculture made a significant increase, expanding by 7.1 per cent compared with the industrial sector which grew by 1.8 per cent in the quarter.

During this period the economy expanded by 1.7 per cent in total, to reach $363.5 billion (£184 billion).

The figures were disclosed yesterday by the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics and portray Brazil's economy in a positive light.

Economic growth and stability in the country is good news for those who have invested in property.

Property prices are said to have increased by 20 per cent in the last five years in Brazil, making it a lucrative market to invest in.
