Brazil Property News: Brazil's air traffic up 17.6% in December

14th January 2008 12:22

Brazil's air traffic was up 17.6 per cent in December, according to data released by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).

The increase represents an annual rise in domestic passenger kilometres, which were up 11.9 per cent in total throughout 2007 from the year before, as passengers clocked up 44.43 billion kilometres.

Anac reports that the increase was due to a rise in the number of seats offered.

Last week Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer reported that its fourth-quarter deliveries were up by 65 per cent in 2007.

Marking a strong year for aviation in the Latin American country, Embraer delivered 169 planes during 2007, successfully meeting its start-of-the-year target of producing between 165 to 170 jets.

Furthermore, Embraer is now the world's fourth-largest aircraft manufacturer reporting an order backlog of $18.8 billion (£9.4 billion) during 2007's last quarter.

Property investors may be pleased to see Brazil's aviation industry strengthening as improved access to the nation may encourage its rental market.
