Brazil Property News: Brazil's economy becomes more competitive

23rd May 2008 04:10

Brazil's economy is Latin America's biggest and has become "more competitive", according to a new report.

The IMD's World Competitiveness Yearbook has revealed that the South American nation has jumped six spots up its league table to 43rd place, compared to last year's ranking of 49th.

It jumped 11 places in the business efficiency category to 29th, the Latin Business Chronicle reports.

People considering buying property in Brazil could be interested to hear that the country's booming economy is more competitive as it suggests the financial buoyancy will continue.

It was reported last week that the country's retail sector enjoyed its strongest quarter ever during the first three months of 2008.

The country's retail sales soared 11.4 per cent in March putting the quarterly expansion to 12 per cent, according to Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, earlier in the month new figures showed that Sao Paulo's retail sector had grown by 6.1 per cent in March.
