Brazil Property News: Brazil's internet usage booms

3rd June 2008 05:09

People considering buying property in Brazil could be interested to hear the country was ranked as number one for internet use in Latin America, it has been reported.

ComScore revealed Brazil topped the region's internet usage list with a total of 19.3 million online users in April, according to Brazzil Mag.

The numbers released today (June 3rd) found that 62 million of the world's 850 million internet users are in Latin America.

Brazilians spend more than 30 hours online a month, which is higher than the worldwide average of 25.7 hours according to the figures.

Jack Flanagan, the firm's executive vice-president, told the publication: "The high engagement among Latin American internet users, combined with this rapidly expanding audience, represents a sizable market opportunity for internet companies choosing to focus their efforts on this region."

He added the region is developing at a quicker rate than existing markets such as North American and Europe.

Meanwhile it was revealed last month by the country's telecom regulator Anatel that the mobile telephone industry in the Latin American country is booming.
