Brazil Property News: Brazil's mobile phone industry booms

19th May 2008 07:00

People considering buying property in Brazil could be interested to hear the nation's mobile telephone industry is continuing to boom, which suggests disposable income among the nation's consumers is still on the rise.

The number of mobile telephone users has risen again according to preliminary data published by the country's telecom regulator Anatel.

According to the figure, there was an increase of 1.5 million subscribers in April compared to the previous month.

The number of mobile phone users in the Latin American nation has reached 127.7 million, showing a rise of more than 24.8 million users over the past year, reports Telecompaper.

Meanwhile, a Brazilian telecoms company revealed in April that it was set to complete the first part of its plan to improve broadband services in the country.

Embratel announced it was close to completing an implementation of a broad WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) network in 12 cities.

It is believed that better internet and telecoms services will drive growth in the country.
