2nd September 2008 19:00

Brazilian Property could be set to benefit from a population boom as official forecasts claim the number of Brazilians will reach 220 million in 30 years time, it has been reported.

The Brazilian Geography and Statistics Institute (IBGE) has revealed the nation now has 189.6 million inhabitants which will rise by more than 30 million through to 2038, according to Mercopress.

Luiz Antonio Pinto de Oliveira, head of IBGE's population and social indicators department, said: "Thirty years from now the Brazilian population will cease to grow. International experience indicates there's not much chance of further growth from then on."

The report added the average population expansion over the course of the past seven years has been 2.3 million annually, which is the equivalent to 1.21 per cent.

Meanwhile, all things Brazilian were celebrated on Sunday (August 31st) in New York as the Latin American nation's tourist office held a publicity show to promote the country as a top destination, it was reported by the Brazzil magazine.
