Brazil Property News: Brazil's shoe exports up 16%

Brazil's shoe exports were up 16 per cent for the first two months of this year compared to the same period in 2007, according to industry data.
Figures released by the Brazilian Association of Shoe Manufacturers (Abicalçados) suggest that the national shoe industry has increased by nearly13 per cent as a total of 39 million pairs of shoes were sold abroad.
Those considering buying property in Brazil may be encouraged by the news, which suggests an economic resilience in the Latin American nation.
Exports of shoes accounted for $368.6 million (£186m) of revenue for the national industry.
The state of Ceará was the biggest exporter accounting for some $68.2m worth, closely followed by Rio Grande do Sul.
Abicalçados also announced a rise in Brazil's importing of shoes as 7.3 million pairs were bought abroad.
It said shoes with synthetic uppers headed exports at 22.4m pairs and those with leather uppers totalled 13.5m.
Last week, Brazil's central bank announced that the country's economic growth was exceeding its expectations.
