Brazil Property News: Castro to visit Brazil

3rd November 2008 07:00

Brazilian property investors could be interested to learn that Cuban leader Raul Castro has chosen the Latin American nation as the destination for his first trip overseas.

The announcement was made by Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, during his visit to Havana, where the state-owned oil firm Petrobras signed an agreement to explore for oil and gas off the coast of Cuba.

"We are pleased to learn that finally his Excellency will travel to Brazil to participate in the first meeting of Latin American and Caribbean nations, next December, without interference from any other power or any other continent," President Lula is quoted by Brazzil Magazine as saying.

The 77-year-old Cuban leader was told by his Brazilian counterpart that no matter how deep the oil is, the countries will convert it to energy together.

According to the publication, President Castro is confident in Petrobras' abilities to find crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

Meanwhile, the Brazil Arab News Agency reported last week that Kuwait is seeking investment opportunities in the Latin American nation.
