Brazil Property News: Dubai-based journalists visit Brazil

12th October 2007 01:30

A group of Dubai-based journalists have paid a visit to the Arab Brazilian Chamber this week.

The 11 writers travelled on the invitation of Emirates Airline to Sao Paulo to learn about the chamber’s work and Latin America's largest economy.

Secretary general of the Arab Brazil Chamber, Michel Alaby, commented on the visit to the Brazil-Arab News Agency.

"Around 450 of the main multinational companies in the world have subsidiaries in Brazil. We have technological knowledge and competitiveness in several products and possess the largest industrial base in Latin America," Mr Alaby said.

He added that last year Brazil received $23.23 billion (£11.45 billion) in foreign investment, making the country an attractive prospect for "many Arab businessmen" interested in the Brazilian hotel sector and resorts in the north-eastern area of the country.

The news follows luxury travel firm Oriental-Express Hotels, Trains and Cruises' decision this month to open a 200-room, two-storey hotel located near the Iguacu Falls.

As well as hotel operators, British homeowners have also expressed a desire to buy a foreign property in the sun as an investment this week, with Brazil being tipped as a wise choice following the saturation of traditional markets such as Spain and Portugal.
