Brazil Property News: Eco-friendly tourism 'the future' for Brazil

6th November 2007 04:15

Eco-friendly tourism is "the future" for Brazilian property investors, according to industry experts.

As environmental issues become increasingly pressing, property experts have predicted that eco-tourism will be crucial to the development of the Brazilian property market.

Property expert, Adam Cornwell, said: "[Those involved in] eco-education want their international clientele [tourists] to learn from the local Brazilians and native Indians who have a very respectful, sensitive and traditional relationship with nature."

The Brazilian tourist board Embratur is already promoting this type of tourism on its website.

Embratur says that the many ecological wonders scattered throughout the country, such as mountains, rivers, waterfalls and catarates make Brazil well equipped for eco-tourism.

Natural preservation zone Chapada dos Guimaraes, which features waterfalls, caves, belvederes and wind-carved rocks, was also highlighted by the tourist organisation.

Property prices have increased by 20 per cent over the last five years in Brazil with some areas of the north-east of the country exceeding this rise.

Experts at the Property Investor and Homebuyer Show this year said that due to low property prices which look set to rise, Brazil is a good place for investment.
