Brazil Property News: Embratur promotes Brazil at trade meetings

12th October 2007 11:29

The Brazilian Tourist Board, Embratur, has announced that it will attend 24 trade meetings before the new year.

Embratur will represent Brazil in "15 distinct markets" in an effort to expand the business possibilities available to Brazil in the coming year.

The tourist board said: "Embratur’s participation in these expos is defined according to the Aquarela Plan – International Touristic Marketing’s guidelines."

It added: "The selection [of trade meetings] takes into consideration criteria such as the assisted market's potential, quality of event, priority for the country and segments’ diversity."

The Aquarela Plan is a tourist marketing strategy put in place by President Lula, which focuses on five main key attributes – sun and beach, ecotourism, sports and business and events.

President Lula's strategy calls for consumer awareness about Brazil and aims to attract more tourists to the country, particularly from the US where the government has set a goal to attract nine million holidaymakers per year.

Embratur has nine offices globally, in Lisbon, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan and Tokyo.

There is also a Bureau of Tourism for Latin America based at the Embratur offices in the capital city of Brasilia.
