Brazil Property News: Emirates to ‘double Brazilian flights’

19th October 2007 01:41

Emirates may double the frequency of its Dubai to Sao Paulo flights, according to new reports.

Due to the popularity of the new route, which is the first direct flight to operate between the Middle East and South America, the airline is considering running the six-times weekly service twice as often.

Senior vice president of Emirates' destination and leisure management division, Han Haensel, told Arabian Travel News: "The bookings for the next three months and the seat factors are already much higher than anticipated."

He also said that the route had proved popular with leisure as well as business travellers.

"The upmarket tour operators in Brazil have been very supportive and have increased Dubai in their brochures," he commented.

The Brazilian tourist industry has increased by 134 per cent in just three years, as more foreign tourists travel to the country.

A $670 million (£330.8 million) scheme has been launched by the Brazilian government to build on the growing popularity of the country.

Eight airports have been built as a result of the project, while 1,010km of highway has been constructed and the regeneration of 732,000 square meters of historic heritage areas is under way.
