Innovation among small Brazilian firms could double their profits, one new study suggests.

A new report by the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) has revealed the majority (52 per cent) of firms that launched innovative processes last year enjoyed an expansion in production volume, according to Brazzil mag.

People considering buying property in Brazil could be interested to hear the nation's small firms are adopting innovative techniques to prosper.

The study also found 46 per cent of organisations enjoyed increased revenues and 39 per cent saw a more productive labour force.

Nearly one quarter (24 per cent) of companies hired more staff which could have a positive effect on Brazilian property near to their sites.

Marcelo Dini Oliveira, Sebrae's innovation and technology manager, told the publication: "Innovation can contribute a lot to increasing the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises; for that reason, we put our best efforts into propagating this concept."

In other trade news, the Brazilian government's foreign minister, Celso Amorim, embarked on a business tour of North Africa last week in an attempt to drum up investment in the nation.
