Brazil Property News: Flight restrictions lifted

30th June 2008 17:00

Restrictions limiting the amount of people travelling between Brazil and the US have been lifted, it has been reported.

The countries have agreed to lift the cap and allow an unlimited number of passenger airlines fly between the nations, according to the Wall Street Journal's MarketWatch.

People looking at property for sale in Brazil could be interested to hear of the news which could result in a booming amount of tourism to the country.

The publication reports the US Department of Transportation said the new agreement provides for a 50 per cent increase in the passenger flights between the two countries and the weekly number of cargo flights could grow to 35 from 24 immediately.

Mary Peters, US secretary of transportation, told the newspaper: "This agreement will help air carriers meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo services between the United States and Brazil,"

It was reported by Reuters earlier in the week that Richard Branson has set his sights on establishing a Brazilian Virgin airline.
