Brazil Property News: Golfing tourism tees off in Brazil

23rd October 2007 03:17

Golfing tourism is gaining pace in Brazil, according to new reports.

The Brazilian tourist board Embratur has announced that two more "new and high standard" tourist ventures based around the golf industry are now in the environmental licensing phases.

Proposals by an international estate agent envisage two eight-hole golf courses complete with tourist facilities in Barra dos Coqueiros, an island near the Brazilian city of Aracaju, and the other in the state of Sergipe.

Jorge Santana, the secretary of state for economic, science and technology development, said: "This tourist venture is the first of its kind in the State of Sergipe. It is an important milestone because from here we have opened ourselves up to other investments of this size."

As well as golfing opportunities, property investment has also been tipped to experience "huge growth" in the future.

Global residential and commercial property consultancy, Knight Frank, has said this week that the Brazilian property market is still "massively untapped".

A spokesperson for the consultancy highlighted the new airport which is scheduled to be built in Natal for 2010, which will be world's fourth largest, as a massive boost to the region.
