Brazil Property News: Honda looks to Brazil

7th September 2007 03:38

Honda is looking to boost its presence in Brazil.

The Japanese motor company is just one of a number of international firms that are looking to expand in Brazil and take advantage of the country's growing economy and consumer spending power.

Honda will launch versions of its Civic and Fit models with larger engines, despite Brazilian motorists traditionally preferring compact cars.

Sho Minekawa, Honda chief operating officer for business in Latin America, told Jiji Press that the firm's Sao Paulo plant will increase output this summer to meet the expected increased demand.

Renault Brazil this August also posted record sales - up 66 per cent.

The increasing demand for motor cars represents the growing spending of the Brazilian consumers which is expected to flow into the property market in the coming years – increasing demand and prices.
