Environmentally-conscious people looking at property for sale in Brazil could be interested to hear the nation has 1.5 million gas-powered vehicles, a figure that looks set to grow by ten per cent this year, it has been reported.
The Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels' (IBP) natural gas committee revealed growth had dropped slightly adding that numbers boomed by 14 per cent in 2007, according to ANBA.
According to the data, the south-eastern state of Rio de Janeiro is leading the way with 655,540 eco-vehicles and Sao Paulo is second boasting a total of 377,416.
The IBP claims that one-tenth of the world's fleet of natural-gas powered vehicles are in Rio de Janeiro.
Rosalino Fernandes, coordinator of IBP's natural gas committee, told ANBA the reduction in growth was caused by a power supply crisis in late 2007 but the situation was improving due to Petrobras increasing natural gas supplies.
Meanwhile, it was reported last week by the news agency that the state-owned oil giant plans to build at least one more refinery in the country.
