International arrivals into Brazil are up by 15 per cent according to new reports.
Around 552,520 foreign passengers arrived in Brazil this October compared with 479,550 in the same month last year, indicating a growth in the country's tourism sector.
Figures released by the Brazilian tourism institute, Embratur, revealed that the final statistics for 2007 should exceed those for last year when international arrivals into the country totalled 6.36 million, reports Brazilian-Arab news agency ANBA.
Earlier this year, Embratur also reported that foreign visitors into the country in August had exceeded figures from the same month in 2006, suggesting a sustained period of tourism growth in the country.
The figure for flight arrivals on its own this month was even greater, with the country seeing an 18 per cent increase, with 532,840 passengers arriving in Brazil in October compared with 451,330 in the same month last year.
According to Embratur, tourism in Brazil is growing at an annual rate of 7.2 per cent, which is above the global average reports the World Tourist Organisation.
