Brazil Property News: Kuwait 'eyes up Brazilian investment opportunities'

30th October 2008 07:00

Those considering investing in Brazilian property could be interested to hear that Kuwait is seeking an investment opportunity in the country, it has been reported.

Kuwait's ambassador to Brazil is currently in the state of Bahia to evaluate investment opportunities for his country, according to the Brazil Arab News Agency.

Waleed Al-Kandari met with the state's deputy governor Edmundo Perieira to discuss where Kuwaiti institutions can invest.

The report notes that options in the tourism, petrochemical and agribusiness sectors remain at the top of the list of suitable industries.

"Bahia is an important tourism hub, with beautiful beaches, sun and heat almost all year round, natural beauties and historic sites. The state is home to some of the most famous resorts in the country, very popular among foreign tourists," the news agency reports.

Michel Alaby, the secretary general of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, told the ANBA that Al-Khandari will compile a report upon his return to Kuwaiti and the mission could be underway as early as the first-half of 2009.

In other news, it was reported by Agencia Brasil that the Brazilian government has heard it is time to invest in green jobs.

Peter Poschen, an International Labour Organisation advisor, maintains the financial crisis has presented a favourable opportunity for the country.
