Brazil Property News: Latin America generates 'strong returns' for investors

16th January 2008 02:44

Latin America is generating "strong returns" for its investors compared with the established markets, according to a leading financial expert.

Dean Newman, head of emerging markets at Invesco Perpetual, said that equity markets in the country have benefited from "strong fundamentals".

He highlighted Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico, which have all seen record inflow in 2007 while he said Brazil offers "especially good opportunities" for further investment.

"Economic growth, boosted by buoyant global demand and high commodity prices, continues to expand in Latin America at a healthy pace, despite the slowdown in the US economy," the fund manager added.

Yesterday Philippa Gee of financial advisory firm Torquil Clark called Brazil "well worth monitoring", despite many investors tipping India and Russia as investment hot spots.

She told the Daily Telegraph: "Brazil has done very well, mainly due to good export levels and sound economic growth. It represents an area with great potential for this year and we will be monitoring this region closely."
