Lula says 'G20 meeting is promising start'

Brazilian property investors could be interested to learn that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva claims this weekend's G20 meeting in Washington is a promising start to solving the global financial crisis, it has emerged.

However, President Lula maintains major results will not be likely because the "perfect diagnosis" has still not been found.

Speaking with Italian leader Silvio Berlusconi at a press conference, Lula said: "We must use the crisis as an opportunity to correct things that were wrong before the crisis and strengthen multilateral bodies."

He added that a globalised world needs representative forums such as the G20 to make global decisions.

The Italian leader agreed with his Brazilian counterpart and said the meeting is a first step to introducing new financial regulations to prevent another crisis.

Meanwhile, Brazilian property investors could be interested to hear the World Travel and Tourism Council will hold its Global Travel and Tourism Summit in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina next year.
