Brazilian property investors could be interested to hear that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva believes Barack Obama's election to the White House represents democracy, it has been reported.

President Lula said those that thought they could not aspire to become the president of the US now know they can, according to Agencia Brasil.

Lula continued by saying he hoped Obama would be able to achieve something his predecessors could not do and find a peace settlement in the Middle East.

He added that he would welcome a stronger relationship between the US and Latin America.

Meanwhile, in other news which could be of interest to those looking at property for sale in Brazil, a child welfare congress could attract thousands of delegates to Rio this month.

The Brazzil Magazine reported this week that the World Congress against CSEC is expected to bring 3,500 people to the city between November 25th to 28th.
