Brazil Property News: Lula wants closer economic ties with Japan

19th June 2008 04:38

Brazil's president wants to build closer ties with Japan in a move that could increase investments and tourism between the two countries, it has been reported.

People considering buying property in Brazil could be interested to hear that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced on Wednesday that he wants to build a closer relationship with Japan.

The Xinhua news agency reports President Lula said his country offered "excellent" opportunities for foreign firms to invest in and he wanted to see more "ambitious" relations between the two nations.

It was reported by Reuters earlier in the week that the South American country was celebrating 100 years of Japanese immigration in the country with a number of events including a visit by the Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito.

AFP reports that the Sao Paulo fashion week, which has being running all week and ends tomorrow, (June 20th) has adopted a Japanese theme to pay homage to the anniversary.
