Brazil Property News: New road to connect biggest cities in Brazil

4th September 2008 05:25

The governor of Sao Paulo is proposing a new road link which would connect the city with the country's second largest metropolis Rio de Janeiro, something which may be of interest to those considering buying property in Brazil.

It would help ease the congestion currently experienced on the Via Dutra - the road currently connecting the two cities, the local O Globo news paper reported.

The newspaper quoted Mr Serra as calling the project something which would be "viable within two years", the Associated Press has reported.

Speaking to the Estado de Sao Paulo news agency, the governor of Rio de Janeiro Sergio Cabral explained the move would be possible.

But the Associated Press reports that he added: "We just have to analyse the cost and financial viability."

The current connecting road between the two cities is officially known as the Rodovia Presidente Dutra and covers a distance of 250 miles, connecting Brazilian property in both cities.
