Brazil Property News: Ocepar to boost Brazilian agriculture?

Those considering Brazilian property could be interested to hear a number of firms are joining forces in order to help drive the cost of fertiliser down to boost the Latin American nation's agriculture industry, it has been reported.

According the Brazzil Magazine, 21 cooperatives which produce one-quarter of the nation's grain production have established the National Consortium of Agricultural Cooperatives (Coonagro).

The report states the group was launched on Friday (September 26th) at the office of the Union and Organization of Cooperatives of the State of Parana (Ocepar), in the city of Curitiba.

According to Ocepar superintendent Nelson Costa, the group will seek raw materials in both the domestic and foreign markets in order to produce its own fertiliser.

"This is an important moment to the history of cooperatives in Paraná, as they join forces in an effort that should bring many benefits to their members," said Ocepar president Joao Paulo Koslovsk.

Meanwhile, in other news which could interest Brazilian property investors it was reported last week by the publication that figures released by the Brazilian Central Bank reveal direct foreign investment for the first 23 days of September totalled some $5.250 billion (£2.7 billion).
