An American expat couple that own property in Brazil have declared that the Latin American nation in one of the "most beautiful places in the world", it has been reported.
Nancy and Gene Celentano bought property in Rio five years ago and have not looked back.
They told the New York Times that it was easier to find excellent tradesmen in the country who offer "value for money".
"Even though it's been five years since we bought here, my jaw still drops looking at the mountains and the sea," Mrs. Celentano said.
"I think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Plus you have the city and wonderful people."
The couple now split their time between Connecticut and Rio, where they spend the winter and have found that the locals are friendlier than in the US.
Property in Brazil is booming, the north-east coast has experienced "massive exposure" in the past year and is now considered a "true hotspot for property investors", according to Easier property.
