Brazil Property News: Record number of tourists visit Brazil's coast

A record number of tourists have flocked to Brazil's coast this year, according to new reports.
Figures released by the Brazilian Association of Maritime Companies (Abremar) have revealed that 2007 has seen the largest season of cruise liners in the history of the country, for domestic trips.
According to Abremar, a total of 430,000 cruise passengers boarded ocean cruiser liners on the coasts of Brazil, compared with 330,000 in 2006.
From November 2006 to March 2007 sales from cruises generated gross revenue of $202 million (£101 million) along with more than 3,700 jobs.
Adrian Ursilli, vice president at the Abremar, said: "We are working in partnership with the competent organisations so as to improve port infrastructure in boarding areas."
The growing traffic of cruise liners in Brazil led to the creation of Abremar in January 2006.
Brazilian tourism institute Embratur announced earlier this year that tourism in the country is growing at a rate of 7.2 per cent annually.
It also revealed last month that in October and August this year the nation received a record number of foreign tourists.
