A Sudanese businessman was in Brazil last week seeking construction companies to partner with his firm in reconstructing Juba University.
President of Double M Engineering, Rafieg Faig Obied, told the Brazilian-Arab news agency Anba: "We have chosen Brazil because we find that the country has good technology and competitive prices.
"We are also seeking partnerships in technology transfers, investments and scholarships."
Mr Obied approached various Brazilian companies such as Hochtief Brazil, in the construction sector, Soufer Industrial, in metallic structures, Conex Móveis, a maker of office furniture and Caio Induscar, with the help of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
The Sudanese businessman first visited Brazil last year to establish contacts with Brazilian companies and will return back to Latin American soil in January 2008 to evaluate the companies again.
Growth in Brazil's construction sector may be good news for its real estate market, allowing companies from the construction industry to become better equipped to build more, better quality new builds.
