Brazil Property News: TAP flight to boost Minas Gerais' tourism by 20%

15th February 2008 09:50

A new flight introduced by TAP is set to boost tourism in the Minas Gerais region by 20 per cent, according to one industry expert.

The new direct flight between Lisbon and Belo Horizonte has fueled the predictions, as it will make travel between Europe and the Brazilian nation easier.

Businessman, Carlos Teixeira Niquini, told Portuguese news agency Lusa: "Our expectations are the best possible as the Portuguese will get the chance to go to the historical cities of Minas Gerais, which are essentially Portuguese."

Niquini owns a manor house hotel in Ouro Preto which is located 90 kilometres from Belo Horizonte and is called Solar do Rosário.

Minas Gerais boasts the third largest regional economy in the Latin American nation, third only to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

TAP airlines now operates 65 weekly flights between Portugal and Brasilia, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Natal, Recife, Salvador, Fortaleza and Belo Horizonte.
