Brazil Property News: The 'fitness traveller' heads to Brazil

8th February 2008 12:13

A new type of holidaymaker will be heading to Brazil this year – the "fitness traveller".

Travel website Flight Centre reports that it has seen an increase in this type of tourist and consequently has put together a collection of "tailor-made" holidays for those in search of a "sporty sojourn".

Holiday hot-spot Brazil is one of the locations that the tour operator has singled out for those wanting to "workout worldwide".

Its "beautify your body in Brazil" trip takes holidaymakers to Rio de Janeiro where they can practice the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira, which was invented in the 16th century.

Rio has schools open to travellers that practice capoeira both as a sport and a fun way to keep fit.

Flight Centre's deal includes seven nights at a four star hotel on Copacabana beach in Rio and prices for the trip start at £829 per person, including flights.

A growing increase in Brazil as a tourist destination may be good news for the nation's property market.

Earlier this week Samantha Gore, sales and marketing director of Brazilian real estate specialist uv10, claimed that "tourism and property investment are close cousins" with each having a huge knock–on affect on the other.

According to Embratur – Brazil's ministry of tourism – the nation's tourism market is growing at a rate of 7.2 per cent annually.
