Brazil Property News: Tourism boost for Latin America

13th September 2007 10:46

Latin American governments are taking steps to encourage "social tourism" among their populations, according to new research.

The move comes after the news that just 47 per cent of the Latin American population did not take a holiday in 2006, according to a study undertaken by market intelligence company Euromonitor, reports travelmole.com.

Following this news, the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism announced plans in July this year to introduce tourism packages to visit the north-eastern area of Brazil, financed through 12 monthly repayments that are designed to make holidays affordable to the general public.

These deals are aimed at pensioners, initially, with plans to expand their availability in the near future, especially during conventionally off-peak seasons.

The promotion of tourism is likely to help governments improve the infrastructure in rapidly developing areas such as the north-eastern part of Brazil, which will in turn encourage greater levels of foreign tourism and property investment into the area.

According to the Economist, Brazil is the "clearest example of Latin America's newfound financial stability" and over recent years has kept "finances in order and prices stable", earning it increasing interest in the international community.
