Brazil Property News: Tourists flock to Brazilian carnival

16th January 2008 02:41

Once again tourists will be arriving in their droves for this year's Brazilian Carnival.

Held between February 3rd and 4th in Mangueira, which is a quiet rural town for the rest of the year, the carnival will feature an 80 minute parade that costs over $1 million (£500,000).

Traditional samba groups, dancers and around 4,500 drummers will parade through the Sambadrome stadium and the town, which is transformed into a vibrant and colourful setting to match the glitter-encrusted costumes worn by performers.

Mangueira's carnival designer, Max Lopes, told the Canadian Press: "It's one big factory. The community plays a big part because of all their love for the school. Everyone's part of the team."

As the preparations get underway tourists will be booking their flights and hotels for their stay, which provides a massive economic boost to the local community.

Earlier this week financial expert Gary Limjuco, director of equity investments for Time Equities, tipped Brazil as an up-and-coming property investment site.

He told the New York Times that "people have already looked at India and China" and are now looking for the next investment hot spot – Brazil.
