Brazil Property News: Tourists flock to Brazilian fish festival

Tourists will be flocking to Brazil this month to enjoy the sounds, colours and tastes of Boca de Rio's annual fishing festival.
Festa dos Pescadores, which is a Candomble celebration, is held annually in Brazil on Boca de Rio beach and gives visitors a rare insight into the country and its traditions.
During the celebrations local fishermen will wash a statue of the princess of the sea – called the pedra de lemanja – on the beach and then lead a shore-side procession.
Afterwards the locals will demonstrate their faith by placing gifts in the water following which the partying begins in the area's streets and bars, which lasts right through until dawn.
Candomble Bahians, who co-exist alongside many Roman Catholics, are still keen to practice the festival which was originally brought to the region by African slaves.
Brazil's beaches are not only home to many festivals and celebrations such as this but are also a massive pull for tourism to the country.
According to the Brazilian tourist institute, Embratur, tourism in the Latin American country is growing at a rate of 7.2 per cent annually.
