Brazil Property News: Two new orders for Brazilian aircraft manufacturer

20th February 2008 01:25

Brazil-based Embraer and Air France subsidiary Regional have obtained two new E-Jets in a deal this week, it has emerged.

To be delivered in the 2009, the deal involves one Embraer 170 and one Embraer 190 aircraft and was agreed for a value of $69 million (£35.5 million).

Indicative of the Air France group's confidence in the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer's line of E-Jets, the deal was described as "great news" by Mauro Kern, executive vice president at Embraer.

"Regional was the first operator of the Embraer 190 in Europe and, with this additional order, is now the company's largest customer on that continent," he said.

Regional already has a fleet of 48 Embraer aircraft in Europe and its 190 aircraft was targeted for its fuel efficiency which will be both beneficial for the environment and the France airliner's bottom line, commented Jean-Yves Grosse, president of Regional and Airline France.

Meanwhile, a new Airbus A320 was obtained by Brazilian airline TAM this week as part of an effort to provide improved passenger comfort and safety.
