Brazil Property News: USP goes green

16th December 2008 12:02

Brazilian property investors with an eco-friendly conscience could be interested to learn that the nation's most renowned university has launched its first environmentally sustainable building, it has been reported.

University of Sao Paulo (USP) has launched its Centre of Studies on Climate and Sustainable Environments, which is a zero-energy consumption building, according to Brazzil Magazine.

The new building will host eco-classes for departments such as the Theme Network on Global Change, the Centre for Earth Science and the Environment and the Laboratory of Sustainable Models for Constructions.

Márcia Ernesto, the director of the Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Science Institute, told the publication: "[The] centre represents multi-disciplinarily and integrates several research groups of the university in different areas of knowledge. This convergence of ideals resulted in a grand, innovative and model project for the University."

Brazilian property investors could be interested to hear that the publication reported last week that Brazil has topped a list as the country with the most mobile phone users in the Latin American region.
